Report: Top 10 Reasons Why Scott Brown is Snubbing Sarah Palin and the Tea Party in Boston

BOSTON, MA — The Tea Party and Sarah Palin will be on Boston Common Wednesday rallying the troops.
But Sen. Scott Brown won’t be there. The Republican freshman declined an invitation to attend.
Brown was recently elected to the U.S. Senate from Democrat Ted Kennedy’s Massachusetts seat, in large part through Tea Party activism. Brown also declined an invitation to speak at a second Tea Party rally, just outside of Boston.
Although he welcomed the Tea Party’s support during his senate campaign, Brown has distanced himself from the group since being sent to Washington. He even denied receiving a congratulatory phone call from Sarah Palin following his victory, only later to admit to the call when pressed by a journalist.
“Brown doesn’t want to offend Palin and the Tea Partiers because they got him elected,” said Sharon Parcher, a political scientist with the Harper Institute, “but on the other hand he knows if he wants to get re-elected, his politics have got to move more to the center.”
Brown says he’s too busy “doing the people’s business” in Washington to attend the Tea Party events. Parcher suggests that what she calls “The Top 10 Reasons Why Scott Brown is Snubbing Sarah Palin and the Tea Party in Boston” may be closer to the truth:
10. Using the Tea Party to get their votes is one thing, but standing next to those whack-jobs where the real tea party took place in 1773 may be too much dishonesty, even for the regular-guy, truck-drivin’, junior senator from Massachusetts.
9. If he wants any chance of the independents who voted for him in January 2010 voting for him in 2012, when he tries for re-election, better not show his face at Sarah’s bash on the Common.
8. Would have to be photographed holding a sign saying “Obama Wasn’t Born in the U.S.!,” even though he believes it.
7. Would have to be photographed grinning broadly, triumphantly holding Sarah Palin’s hand in the air (not sure he can pull off the broad grin).
6. Doesn’t know what he’s talking about (not that that’s ever stopped any politician from giving a speech).
5. Needs to be in Washington in case the President calls and asks for his advice about nuclear security policy.
4. Needs to be in Washington in case the Republicans need another “no” vote.
3. Has a doctor’s appointment (oops, don’t tell anyone that “Obamacare” works fine for him).
2. Has recurring dreams of getting his butt kicked by the spirit of Sen. Ted Kennedy.
1. Sarah Palin is most definitely several fries short of a Happy Meal.
